The first lecture

   Gisoo presented a nice lecture .The topic was" having a baby or not"?It was included several good questions.For  instance : "Do you agree with adopting or it's necessary to give birth to a child?"If you ask me this question ,I prefer to adopt a child ,because I have my own reasons .
You know ,a child can't decide to come to this wold or not and I think we as her/his parents force him/her to live in this world.Do you think is it fair?living on this earth and after a while passing away and say good bye to everyone we had loved and leave them alone.I really enjoy my life and I love my family, my friends and people around me,but the death is the only thing that I can't imagine it for people around me.It's hard for me to accept it.Because of that,I think why should I give a birth to a child and bring him/her to this world.I can just adopt a child as my own child and bring him/her up as well as I can and help him/her to have a beautiful life.Because he/she didn't have any choice to come,then I can help them.I know that finally I should leave my adopted child alone,too.But at least I feel relax that it wasn't my fault .
   And one of the next questions was "why do people decide to have the second baby while they have the difficult experience from their first child?"I think ,afraid of being  loneliness for their first child in his/her feature ,force parents to decide to have the second child,although they are familiar with all the difficulties.for example I have a brother and a sister who always support me and I can't imagine my world without them.I'm glad to have them as my siblings.

New term

  It was 19th of  Day,when I entered the class ,I met two new students,who are motivated and attend class regularly.All of my classmates are attentive and participate actively while in class.I really enjoy being involved in the class.Although last term was great and I learned a lot , but this term a huge revolution ( as Emad said on his blog) had happened.For instance: for improving our vocabularies instead of searching for a topic and finding new words and then just reading it in the class which was not useful ,our teacher gave us an article and then divided us into two groups ,each group had to skim and read the text ...then we had to study the text at home and learning new vocabularies and also writing a text,which was related to the topic closely.
   I found the most crucial change on the way that we studied the select reading.Mr.Sade asked us about the topic of the chapter and we had to work in a team;brainstorming,taking notes,comparing ideas and then reviewing the result.It was a big success because after that ,when we return to the book ,we all were familiar with subject and the background helped us to understand the issue better.
   I really appreciate what my instructor does during the class.He uses different policies to force us to speak about interesting topics and he found a way to improve our writing skill,because all of us ( I think ) have scaped from writing during our different levels of English classes.Creating a blog is one of his great ideas, that can increase both quality and versatility of our writing skill.

figures of speech

   A figure of speech is a way of using words creatively.The fact is,whether we're conscious of it or not,we use figure of speech every day in our own writing and conversations.I chose some of them to introduce :

Metaphor : An implied comparisom between two unlike things that actually have something important in common.It's etymology is from the Greek," carry over ".There are some interesting examples :
1-"A man may break a word with you,sir,and words are but wind."( Shakespeare,The Comady Of Errors )
2-"Language is a road map of a culture.It tells you where its people come from and where they are going."( Rita Mae Brown )
3-" Metaphor is a device for seeing something in terms of something else.It brings out the thisness of a that , or the thatness of a this." ( Kenneth Burke,A Grammar Of Motives,1945 )
Metaphor is also known as lexical metaphor.

Simile : A stated comparison ( usually formed with "like" or "as" ) between two fundamentally dissimilar things that have certain qualities in common.It's etymology is from Latin," likeness" or "comparison".Examples:
1-"Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep."( Carl Sandburg )
2-"My face looks like a wedding-cake left out in the rain."( W.H.Auden )
3-"Good coffee is like friendship: rich and warm and strong."( Slogan of Pan-American Coffee Bureau)

Anaphora : Repetition of the same word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or verses. ( Contrast with epiphora and epistrophe.) It's etymology is from the Greek,"Carrying back".Examples:
1- "I needed a drink,I needed a lot of life insurance,I needed a vacation,I needed a home in the country.What I hadwas a coat,a hat and a gun."(Raymond Chandler,Farewell,My Love)
2- "I'm not afraid to die.I'm not afraid to live.I'm not afraid to fail.I'm not afraid to succeed.I'm not afraid to fall in love.I'm not afraid to be alone.I'm just afraid I might have to stop talking about myself for five minutes." ( Kinky Friedman,When the Cat's Away )
Anaphora is also known as epanaphora,ineratio,relatio,repetitio,report.

Antithesis : The juxtaposition of contrasting ideas in balanced phrases.It's etymology is from the Greek,"opposition". Examples:
1- "Love is an ideal thing , marriage a real thing."( Goethe )
2- "You're easy on the eyes.Hard on the heart."( Terri Clark)
3- "All the joy the world contains
     Has come through wishing happiness  for others.
     All the misery the world contains
     Has come through wanting pleasure for oneself."( Shantideva )

What's up?

   I'm writting this post ,while four weeks are passed from starting my class.Do you want to know what happened during these weeks.wow! lots of things.We finished unit one from passages and also select readings .The discussions in the class which our teacher forces us to speak about, were wonderful and even the writing lessons were useful.It shows us how to write a paragraph with only one topic sentence.we are now familiar with the main idea ,each paragraph should describe one main idea.I really love the impact book,the subjects in this book are so fun and make us to know about American's lifestyle.In my idea ,as we are learning english,it's really important being familiar with the U.S or U.K's culture and this book can help us a lot on this way.Each session ,one of us should bring some interesting issue and share it with our classmates , finding new words from the text and explain them in the class is one of our responsibility.Totally,we have fun in the class,don't you believe it,then join us.

Finding the III

Hi,I am one of the students in the III institute.I'm glad to find this again which was closed about 2 years.Everyone can improve his/her knowledge of english language through this institute.It's not an advertising message ,it's just something that I have experienced it & I want to let you know about our activities in the class which are quite different from other classes.
